Then descend into one of the hottest and lowest places on Earth: the Danakil Depression. Here, witness salt caravans, colorful sulfur springs, and the active lava lake of Erta Ale. Itinerary

Arrival in Bahir Dar
Day 1:
Fly from Addis Ababa to Bahir Dar, a Stunning city by Lake Tana. Enjoy a Peaceful boat ride to Ura Kidane Mehret, famed for its ancient Murals. Conclude the day with a sunset view from Bezawit Hill overlooking the blue Nile.
Blue Nile Falls & Transfer to Gondar
Day 2:
After breakfast take a short drive to the blue Nile falls and enjoy a scenic 30-minute hike to the stunning 40 meter cascade surrounded by mist and lush countryside ,the falls offer a refreshing and memorable experience. Then drive north for about 3 hours to Gonder and spend a relaxing evening exploring old imperial day.
Exploring the Royal Legacy of Gondar
Day 3:
Spend the day discovering Gonder imperial legacy, starting with the castle-filled royal enclosure (Fasil Ghebbi).Visit the iconic Debre Berhan Selassie church, known for its celling adorned with angelic faces. End with a visit to fasildes bath.
Journey into the Simien Mountains
Day 4:
Drive to Simien Mountains national park, a UNESCO world heritage site. take a short hike around sankaber, enjoying stunning views of gorges, peaks, and wildlife like Gelada baboons. breath in the cool mountain air.
Scenic Drive to Axum
Day 5:
Travel through northern Ethiopia’s stunning mountains, descending the dramatic Limalimo pass. cross the impressive Tekeze river Gorge, one of Africa’s deepest canyons. arrive in Axum by evening, a historic city known as the heart of ancient empire.
Discovering the Ancient Kingdom of Axum
Day 6:
Discover Axum, the legendary city linked to the queen of sheba and ancient empires. admire the towering obelisks, royal tombs, and ruins of her palace. visit St. Mary of Zion church, believed to house Ark of the covenant.
Axum to the Gheralta Mountains via Adwa
Day 7:
Depart Axum and travel through Adwa, site of Ethiopia historic victory over Italy in 1896.in the afternoon, hike to the cliff-carved Abune Yemata Guh, perched high in the Gheralta mountains. Brave the vertical climb to reach this hidden church and admire its ancient frescoes and panoramic views.
Rock-Hewn Churches of Gheralta
Day 8:
Spend the day exploring the Gheralta Mountains, a region dotted with isolated and ancient rock-hewn churches. Hike to Maryam Korkor and Daniel Korkor, perched high in the cliffs, where ancient priests still conduct daily rituals. Along the way, enjoy panoramic views over the vast Tigrayan plateau. Return to your lodge in Hawzen to relax and soak in the tranquil scenery.
Gheralta to Mekelle
Day 9:
Drive to Mekelle, the capital of the Tigray region. Explore the city's relaxed streets and visit the Yohannes IV Palace Museum, where royal furniture, war artifacts, and manuscripts from the 19th century are on display. Prepare for your upcoming desert adventure by stocking up on supplies and enjoying a quiet evening.
Into the Afar Desert — Danakil Depression
Day 10:
Begin your journey at dawn in 4x4 convoy into the extreme landscapes of the danikil depression. pass through volcanic fields and afar villages en routh to the remote outpost of hamed Ela. witness the age -old tradition of salt mining and camel caravans crossing the vast salt flats.
Sulfur Springs and Salt Lakes of Dallol
Day 11:
Start the day early with a visit to dallol, known for its bright hot springs and strange sulfur shapes .then explore Lake Asale, a wide salt lake that looks like a mirror-great for photos and walking.in the afternoon, drive to Erta Ale base camp and hike up the volcano to see the creator at night.
Erta Ale Lava Lake Return to Mekelle
Day 12:
Reach the rim of Erta Ale at sunrise to see the glowing lava lake in the early morning light. After taking in the view, hike back down and begin your return journey toward mekelle.
Mekelle to Addis Ababa
Day 13:
Fly back to Addis Ababa, begin your day with a visit to the National Museum, home to Lucy, the world-famous Australopithecus fossil. Continue to Holy Trinity Cathedral, where Emperor Haile Selassie is buried, and finish with coffee tasting at a traditional café. Transfer to Bole International Airport for your international flight, concluding an unforgettable journey through Ethiopia’s historic north and the extreme Afar wilderness.
