Arrival in Addis Ababa
Day 1:
Discover Addis Ababa, where Ethiopia’s rich past meets its dynamic present. See ancient treasures at the National Museum and the beauty of Trinity Cathedral. Wander through the vibrant Merkato market, full of life and color. Visit the African Union, a symbol of modern African unity. A perfect blend of culture, history, and progress.
Addis Ababa – Fly to Bahir Dar
Day 2:
Morning flight to Bahir Dar, gateway to Lake Tana. visit the majestic Blue Nile Falls and take a boat ride to island monasteries. experience ancient religious heritage and scenic landscapes.
Bahir Dar – Drive to Gondar
Day 3:
Drive through highlands to Ethiopia’s former royal capital, Gondar. visit the 17th-century castles and Debre Berhan Selassie Church. explore the architectural legacy of Ethiopia’s emperors.
Gondar – Fly to Axum
Day 4:
Fly to Axum, center of the ancient Axumite Empire. See towering obelisks, Queen of Sheba’s palace, and old inscriptions. visit the historic church said to house the Ark of the Covenant.
Axum – Fly to Lalibela
Day 5:
Morning flight to Lalibela, the “New Jerusalem” of Ethiopia. explore the first group of extraordinary rock-hewn churches. witness centuries-old architecture carved directly from stone.
Lalibela Exploration
Day 6:
Hike or ride a mule to Asheten Mariam Monastery on the mountaintop. Continue to the second cluster of Lalibela’s rock churches.
Lalibela – Fly to Addis Ababa
Day 7:
Fly back to Addis Ababa in the morning. Enjoy free time to shop or explore local art and culture. Prepare to shift from historic north to the cultural south.
Addis Ababa – Fly to Arba Minch
Day 8:
Morning flight to Arba Minch, in the southern Rift Valley. take a scenic drive to the Dorze village with its beehive-shaped huts. Learn about weaving traditions and mountain culture.
Arba Minch – Konso – Jinka
Day 9:
Take a boat safari on Lake Chamo to spot crocodiles and hippos. drive to the Konso village (UNESCO site), then continue to Jinka. See terraced hills and meet people of the southern highlands.
Jinka – Mursi Tribe Visit
Day 10:
Drive into Mago National Park to meet the Mursi people. Discover their unique customs, including traditional lip plates. Optional museum visit back in Jinka for cultural insight.
Jinka – Key Afer – Turmi
Day 11:
Head to Turmi via the colorful Key Afer market (on Thursdays).Meet Ari, Tsemay, and Benna tribes showcasing handmade goods. visit a Hamer village and experience traditional Omo Valley life.
Turmi – Omorate Excursion
Day 12:
Drive to Omorate and cross the Omo River by local canoe. visit the Dassanech people, known for their pastoral lifestyle. return to Turmi and witness bull-jumping if the chance arises.
Turmi – Erbore Tribe – Arba Minch
Day 13:
Drive back toward Arba Minch through semi-arid plains. visit the Erbore tribe known for their ornaments and hairstyles. enjoy the scenic views and cultural encounters en route.
Fly to Addis Ababa – Cultural Night
Day 14:
Fly to Addis Ababa and spend the day at your leisure. Shop, explore museums, or enjoy Ethiopian coffee culture. end the journey with a farewell dinner and live dance performance.
